Step 2: Write prompt
Before this step, ensure you have validated the possibility of the idea as described before. Once you have a clear idea and functionality, you can use ChatGPT to generate a Chrome extension.
Example Prompt:
Assume youβre an experienced Chrome extension developer. I want you to generate the full code for a Chrome extension in the manifest version 3. I want to extract all image data, including file name, alt tag, size, resolution, and image URL, from the active tab. Then, export them as CSV files. Popup HTML should show the extracted data in a table format. The table should include an image thumbnail and all other extracted data. The pop-up look and feel should be modern and user-friendly.
The more descriptive you are about the functionalities you want, the better the output from ChatGPT.
Step 3: Refine your code
Always review and refine the code provided by ChatGPT. Before finalizing any code, ask ChatGPT for potential improvements. Remember to paste the original code back into the chat for context, as ChatGPT’s memory for past interactions is limited.
This process is more efficient with GPT-4, and it’s one of the reasons why you need a paid OpenAI account.
Step 4: Save codes
Once ChatGPT generates the required code for your extension, copy and paste the code into your code editor.
